Which costs should you budget for?

Separate the one-time build fee from ongoing costs. Page count, features, copywriting, and the materials already available all affect the quote.

Include domain registration, hosting, and maintenance. Compare the first-year total, then check which recurring costs continue in later years.

What drives the price?

Compare these parts of each quote:

  • Pages: each page needs content, layout, and review.
  • Copywriting: clarify whether you supply finished copy or need it written.
  • Design: using an existing template and creating a custom design involve different work.
  • Features: booking, editable menus, deposits, and quote request forms may be separate items.
  • Languages: translation and language review add work.
  • Deadline: rush delivery may carry a surcharge.

One-off fee and monthly fee: what you pay in a year

The one-off fee covers building the site. After that, you pay monthly for hosting and maintenance; content updates are included according to your package. You register the domain separately and pay the registrar directly.

The Pricing page shows what the Starter and Business monthly fees cover, including the content update time in each package. If you'd rather run the site yourself, you can choose no monthly fee: the one-off fee is higher, and I hand over the complete site.

What does it cost with me?

The table uses prices from the calculator. Industry examples include different page counts and extras; each industry page explains its selection.

Hidden costs to watch for

Before you sign, ask these:

  • Whose name will the domain be in? It should be yours, or switching later can get messy.
  • What does a change cost after launch? A new price or new hours shouldn't mean a separate invoice.
  • Is a cookie banner needed? If the site uses tracking with cookies, yes, and it has to be set up properly. With cookie-free analytics, it isn't.
  • Are the legal pages included? Imprint, privacy policy, terms: these aren't optional.
  • Who owns the rights to the photos? For downloaded images, the license has to be checked too.
  • What happens if you leave? Ask whether they hand over the site, and on what terms.

How to keep costs manageable

Choose the page count around your content. A few services may fit on one page; a detailed offering may need several. Select the features you expect to use.

Prepare your opening hours, prices, photos, and logo. The free demo lets us discuss the structure and price before you order. Work on the final version starts after the written order and deposit.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a simple business website cost?

The table above shows the Sitewright Starter build fee and monthly fee. Extras can increase the price; choose your options in the calculator.

Why does a website have a monthly fee?

Because the site has to run somewhere, be kept up to date, and its content changes from time to time. The monthly fee covers that; without it, you handle it yourself.

Is it cheaper to build it myself with a website builder?

Compare the subscription, any extra fees, and the time you’ll spend building and maintaining the site. With a website builder, you also handle content, setup, and future updates.

How long does it take?
